Art Tricks

I find that I refer to my board often!  I hope my students do too!

Dream Homes

Just before Spring Break we had our school open house. I send all the artwork home in the student's portfolios. I took some pictures of some of the Dream Home's on display for the event. These were inspired but Frank L. Wright and painted with tempra cakes and drawn with china markers.

Spring Break

A wonderful art day today with my art teacher friend. We loved the Impressionist Exhibit at the Kimbell in Fort Worth Texas! It was crowded, but also refreshing to see so many families enjoy the beautiful art.

Open House!

What a rush, getting ready for Open House this week and having our Art Fair. It is so much fun to see the art work come together and having such amazing students and parents supporting Youth Art Month!

4th Grade Pop Art

I was looking for a lesson for my 4th graders while they worked on the computer creating digital Pop Art Portraits.  This lesson was a hit. We drew cylinders and personalized our soup cans with china markers, oil pastels and water colors.

3rd Grade Space Values

This year we adapted our lesson with a Deep Space Sparkle rocket!!

KDG Mattise Still-life

This lesson is so popular and successful! We used so many fun art supplies. China Markers, pencil, crayons, dot painters, texture plates, water colors and salt!

More patterned landscapes finished today!

I wanted to thank Painted Paper for her inspiration for this lesson!

5th Grade Shoe Portraits

This is one of my favorite lessons. We drew one shoe with contour lines first. We used that shoe as a guide for the final composition that was assymetrical with personal objects . The students were allowed to pick the media.

Clay Rattles

My fifth graders just finished the clay rattles. On the first day of the lesson we formed two pinch pots with small clay balls for the rattle noise inside. On day two they added onto the vessel. They came up with some cleaver creations!
