#ATCswap update

The New Year is days away.  As I reflect on the past semester,  participating in the #ATCswap was the highlight of my school year.  It was like Christmas opening the cards we received from Nic Haun's amazing swap.  The excitement was global. My student's received two packets of cards from Italy.  I was able to use my projector to show the kids this amazing post from  arteascuola.com  which showed how her creative and talented students created the cards they received.  Thank you Miriam for sending your treasures and creating a post to link the global trading card process. Thank you Nic for pulling it all together in your informative blog post here .  Nic had the teachers create wrapping paper that provided a Pen Pal like information sheet to their students and where they live. I am Back!

I have spent the last few months just being a working mom.... The school book I am ready, "Teach Like a Pirate" talks about passion outside of the classroom...I have been working on finding my mom time and not so much on the computer.   My eldest daughter, Ashley, recently got married. I made it my mission to focus my time on her and art making for the wedding. My youngest, Emily, who is my artsy side kick joined the action with her art creations. I made place cards for the reception.. using labels, chalk marker and wine corks. We photoshopped old family wedding pictures for the reception. I also got to spend quality time with my parents who live in Indianapolis. We enjoyed three lovely showers this summer. I made these Marquee letters for the Bar at the reception.  They are the Heidi Swapp  Letters at Michaels. Emily and I also made the Photo Booth props. Some were the wooded prop...

It took me the second nine weeks to rebound and get back on track. Our amazing office manger and principal planned many fun activities that involved twitter the last week of the semester  and a Sonic drink cart. Thanks Shelley and Jamey! Do you Twitter? I have had a door into my classroom with twitter for two years now and love it.  Check out my classroom @ skaggsart I began tweeting last year, but our school made it the IN thing this year. We have Twitter Tasks of the day that involve teacher and student tweets.  Here are a few #ttt from the week in our Photo booth. Each day had a theme....  Team Shirts  Christmas shirts Scarf day I had planned santa hat day for the last ...
