My New Year's resolution was to make time for my art. So.....Needing to make clay pieces for another Raku fire day at Eric Orr's studio next month, I made four pieces. I also needed to make items for a PDH next month on glazing. I loved using the Trinity Raku clay. It is so gritty. I made several pieces following the how to on Gary Jackson's site. I also made leaf bowls using stoneware clay from Trinity Clay in Dallas.

Can't wait to see these glazed! :)
ReplyDeleteI just tried this with 4th and 5th graders in my after school program. Most were very successful. I love the idea. I wanted to test it for use as a 3rd grade slab project for next year but I'm not sure I can pull it off with 3rdgraders. I may stick to wall pockets for them. I do love the vases and will make a few for myself. I'm think an under glazed wiped off to enhance the texture and the just a clear glaze. I'll look forward to seeing your glazed version.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a glaze workshop next week and that is my goal. I also did a two for a Raku fire. I really liked the rubber texture plates for clay. I think it would be hard to do this with a large group of kids.
