I have been on overload this month and not posted at all. I have been on too many sites!
I have a twitter account for my class Skaggs Art
I went to Google Camp and learned about Google Docs and Classroom sites.
I began to learn how to set up my
school class site Art@ Skaggs
plus I belong to the Facebook Art Group and a TAEA group here in Texas.
I wonder if all the sharing is really looked at.... but I try.
I also have a student teacher. Thank goodness he is a good one from my home school area!
If you have ever had a student teacher you know what I mean. You have to be on your A game and I didn't really feel I was there.
Yes, it was repetitious to make name tents and sketchbooks this week,
but it works to get our acts together.
As a team leader I feel so stretched at the beginning of the year. We have one new team member but he too seems to be on his A Game. Thank you PE!
We don't normally take a vaca right before the first week of school, but this month it was the only week we could make it work with my girls.
They make me laugh! We had a great week on Sanibel Island in Florida.
My Zen moment.....
But on to the little things that made my week as a result of past efforts.
First... my first blogger friend Phyl. In blogger world she tagged me with her post on
This was a post I wrote a last year , She took it and ran with it.
Her post was outstanding and the artwork was even better.
That's what I love about blogging. We are all on our own island of Art.
When we share what we have learned we all benefit. Thank you Phyl.
The second highlight of the week was an email I received from a former student.
Ms Carter,
I don’t know if you remember me, but I’m *%@# from Weatherford Elementary. I attended there from 1999-2005. I am currently majoring in Art Education at Texas Tech, after realizing what I really wanted to do was inspire children the way you inspired me. I was wondering if I could visit your classroom one afternoon during the week of December 9th or 16th to see you in action now that I’m all grown up. It was because of you that I never stopped loving art and pushing the boundaries of creativity.
Thank you,
*%@#
Tears and goose bumps!
With all the crazy beginning of the year back to school events, I realize that the love of art, and the passion we share with our students, in emails, in our art, and with technology keeps us all connected by a common love of the heART!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I had goosebumps over that wonderful letter for you! What a wonderful confirmation of all that you do.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I was dumbstruck as I read it. It was a wonderful feeling on a stressful week.
